Shopify speed optimization that passes Core Web Vitals
I make stores faster by fixing what slows them down: app scripts, oversized images, render-blocking code and layout shift. Speed scores improve as a result.
Signs you need Shopify speed optimization
What you get
From $250, fixed scope. Scoped on a call, fixed in writing before work starts.
01LCP: hero & product images
Correctly sized, preloaded and modern-format images on the templates that matter most.
02INP: script diet
Third-party and app scripts audited, deferred or removed. This is the biggest cause of slow interaction on Shopify.
03CLS: layout stability
Reserved space for images, banners, reviews and app widgets, so the page stops shifting as it loads.
04Font & CSS delivery
Fewer font files, critical CSS and no unused stylesheets.
05App audit
Leftover code from uninstalled apps removed, plus a list of apps to keep, replace or remove.
06Before/after report
Field and lab metrics for each template, so you can see exactly what changed.
How I approach Shopify Speed Optimization
Written by Saqib Ali, Shopify SEO lead & developer at Globe Skillz. Updated November 2026.
Speed scores aren’t the goal
A PageSpeed score of 100 on an empty test page doesn’t mean much. What counts is Google’s field data, measured from real shoppers on real phones. Core Web Vitals are a ranking signal and also a conversion factor. Every speed project here is measured against the CrUX field data in Search Console.
Where Shopify speed actually goes
| Cause | Typical impact |
|---|---|
| App scripts (reviews, popups, chat, upsell) | The biggest cause of poor INP |
| Unsized or oversized hero images | Poor LCP and CLS on mobile |
| Code left behind by uninstalled apps | Wasted requests on every page |
| Too many font weights and families | Slower first render |
| Sliders and videos above the fold | Poor LCP |

Does page speed affect Shopify SEO?
Yes. Core Web Vitals are part of Google’s page experience signals. They work more as a tie-breaker than a main ranking factor, but speed has a big effect on conversion rate, especially on mobile.
Why is my Shopify store slow?
Usually it’s app scripts, large unoptimized images and leftover code from removed apps. Shopify’s hosting and CDN are fast; the slowdown almost always comes from the theme and apps.
Can you guarantee a 90+ PageSpeed score?
No, and anyone who does is probably testing an empty page. I commit to passing Core Web Vitals in field data where your app stack allows it, and I’ll tell you up front which apps make that impossible.
Will speed work break any features?
No. Everything is done on a duplicate theme and tested across your key user flows before it goes live.
